Who are we?

We’re Gingernuity – we’re queer and ginger, making small-batch, palm-free, vegan friendly soap and other skin kind products, here in the UK using responsibly sourced ingredients.

How did we start?

We began experimenting with soap during the first lockdown of 2020. Everyone we knew appeared to be turning their hands to mixology or baking, and seeing as we hardly drink and can’t bake, neither of these appealed to us. We stumbled upon soap making by pure chance, becoming engrossed in the world of blending oils, butters, clays and essential oils, studying the regulations and processes (which really got the old grey cells working), and for Christmas 2020 everyone received a goody bag of handmade soaps.

The feedback from friends and family led us to spend much of 2021 exploring how we can legally manufacture and sale soap within the UK.

We launched in March 2022 – as our customer base grew, so has our product range now including soaps, soap dishes, bathing accessories and balms, with more soaps and other products under development as we type this!

What makes us different?

From the start, we wanted a product which is palm-oil free, using natural ingredients for colour and scent.

Our products absolutely had to be free from parabens and sls (nasty chemicals often found in mass-produced hand/body care products).

None of our products or their ingredients are tested on animals, so we roped our friends and family in to extensively test our products… we must be doing something right as we’re often asked if there’s any testing we need help with!

How do we ensure our soaps are safe?

Soap intended to be used to cleanse the human body is classed as a ‘cosmetic’ by UK law, and our Hand & Body Soaps each have “Cosmetic Product Safety Report” issued by a licensed chemist. We have also declared these products to HM Government’s Office of Product Safety and Standards.

We are also proud members of the Guild of Craft Soap & Toiletry Makers, membership to which is only granted to those whose products comply with the UK’s stringent regulations.
